SDS template

The structure every safety data sheet in the EU must follow: all 16 sections and their subsections in the official wording of Annex II to REACH, with a short note on what belongs in each.

Sources last checked: 14 October 2026 Expert review: Maximilián Pálffy and Bc. Jerguš Sekanina General information, not legal or professional advice. The headings are taken from Regulation (EU) 2020/878 – always check the current consolidated text on EUR-Lex.

Template ≠ SDS

An outline, not a finished document

This template shows the required structure. The content must be written for the specific substance or mixture, based on its composition and classification.
Annex II, 0.4

No blank subsections

Every subsection must be filled in. If information does not apply or is not available, the SDS says so, with the reason where possible.
Annex II, 0.2.3

Prepared by a competent person

The SDS is compiled by a trained, competent person. The supplier remains responsible for its content.
